Of Quiet Whispers and Loud Speakers is a sonic work ruminating on voices, whispers, and the act of amplifying someone else’s words. The work departs from the experience of call and response, heard most recently throughout the October Revolutions in Baghdad and Beirut, and less recently through the phenomenon of the Human Mic (as popularized in the Occupy Movement). For this occasion, I collaborated with Beirut-based writer Rayya Badran, acting as Badran’s Human Mic and loudspeaker of sorts, ventriloquizing her words in blind faith.
